EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP 2025 - 2026

Our leadership team oversees all projects in a given cycle and works to implement a long-term vision for the organization.

 
 

Fiona Charlton | Managing Director

Fiona Charlton is a third-year studying Economics and Psychology from Houston, Texas. She joined EC in the fall of her first year and has since worked on projects spanning consumer goods, nonprofit strategy, and tech-enabled retail. Most recently, she led engagements with the Alzheimer’s Association and Girl Scouts of the USA, developing national volunteer recruitment strategies. As Managing Director, Fiona oversees EC’s overall performance, finances, and internal operations. Outside of EC, she serves as Vice President of Community Service for Delta Sigma Pi and is an associate in Women in Business. This past summer, Fiona worked in private equity at ParkerGale, and next summer, she will pursue investment banking with Perella Weinberg Partners’ energy group, TPH.

Alejandro Lorenzo | Principal of Business Development

Alejandro Lorenzo is a third-year studying Economics and Global Studies from New Jersey. Since joining Eckhart in the winter of his first year, he has worked with various clients ranging from a top NHL hockey team to a high-profile European soccer club. Most recently, he led a project with one of the world’s largest movie theater chains. As the Principal of Business Development, he is responsible for sourcing engagements, determining project scopes, and maintaining client relationships. Outside of EC, Alejandro is the President of UChicago’s Business Organization for Latino Development and a member of Delta Sigma Pi. This past summer, Alejandro worked on the debt capital markets desk at National Australia Bank, and next summer, he will pursue investment banking at Goldman Sachs.

Sophie Burgess | Principal of Engagement

Sophie Burgess is a fourth-year studying Economics and Data Science from London. She joined EC in the fall of her second year, and has worked on projects with an aerospace startup, a wellness startup, a nonprofit’s merchandise business, and Formula 1. As Principal of Engagement, she’s responsible for alumni engagement, developing relationships with recruiters, and EC member’s overall professional development. She is also an Engagement Manager this cycle working with Fanatics on a rollout strategy for their credit card business. Outside of EC, she serves as Head of Long-Term Initiatives and a Board Member at campusCATALYST, is an associate in Women in Business, and also volunteers at a Chicago Public School. This past summer, Sophie worked as a Strategy Analyst at Accenture and will be returning full-time after graduation.

Kabir Goel | Principal of Operations

Kabir Goel is a third-year studying Economics and Data Science from India. Since joining Eckhart in the winter of his first year, he has worked with various clients ranging from a La Liga soccer club to a top NHL ice hockey team. Most recently, he led a project with Formula 1. As the Principal of Operations, he is responsible for directing the club's new member recruitment process. Alongside that, he also oversees daily operations and consultant feedback for the club. Outside of EC, he serves as VP Membership for Alpha Kappa Psi and is on the Teaching Committee for Promontory Investment Research. This past summer, Kabir worked as an AI Strategy intern for a tech startup, and next summer, he will be interning as a Summer Associate at BCG.

 

Arya Ramachandran | Principal of Strategy

Arya Ramachandran is a third-year studying Math, Economics and Music from Massachusetts. He joined Eckhart in the winter of his first year, and has worked on strategy projects for a professional sports franchise and a global nonprofit, focusing on growth and community impact. Most recently he led an engagement with a leading technology company in the on-demand delivery space. As Principal of Strategy, he is responsible for leading all internal professional training, ensuring project quality across engagements, and overseeing Eckhart’s endowment and investing activity. This past summer, Arya conducted math research in probability theory, focusing on stochastic processes and their applications to finance.

Alex Gappert | Director of Public Affairs

Alex Gappert is a fourth-year studying Economics and East Asian Languages and Civilizations from Colorado. He joined EC in the fall of his second year and has worked with clients in fintech and sustainability. Last year, he led an engagement with a major Chicago-based nonprofit institution. As Director of Public Affairs, he oversees EC’s external communications, impact initiatives, and university-wide events. Outside of EC, Alex serves as President of a nonprofit supporting veterans in their transition to the civilian workforce. This past summer, he was an Innovation Fellow at the Polsky Center, and after graduation, he will pursue graduate studies.

PROJECT TEAM STRUCTURE

 

Engagement Manager

EMs are the project leaders and work closely with the client to guide high-level strategy. As senior members, they have completed at least two projects.


Project Advisor

Each project is assigned 1 project advisor, who is usually a full-time strategy consultants at firms like McKinsey, Bain, and BCG.


Senior Advisor

Each project has 1–2 senior advisors, who are typically 3rd or 4th year students and have led a project in the past.

Consultants

EC Consultants are some of the most intelligent and driven students at UChicago. Each team has 3–4 consultants.
